The Real Reason I Got in The Lash Game (1min Read)

Okay, terrible story. When I was about 19 and broke I was obsessed with the new lash extension trend. I never wore any makeup and loved looking natural so I NEEDED to have lash extensions to give me a little umph. The place that I wanted to go was called Blink Lash Boutique. Couldn’t afford it. Sets were like $150+ and would be nearly my entire Spencer’s paycheck. Yes, I worked at Spencer’s. 😂

Fast forward, one day I’m getting my nails done by my girl Jenny down in University Heights. A client comes in and is like “I can’t wait for you you do my lashes today Jenny! They lasted so well!”

Okay, so in my head I’m like, “Look at God, won’t he do it!”.

The lady and I chatted about her extensions and I was set! Jenny was going to do my lashes. They were $80 and I was going to pony up the cash.

We walk around to the other side of a wall in the nail salon and she has me lie down behind a partition. I’m still excited because I’ve seen 100 YouTube videos on the process and knew I’d have to lie down under an magnifying light. She tells me to open my eyes and then immediately starts putting lashes on me! With my eyes open! Burning from the adhesive fumes!

This is wrong.

“Can you put the eyepads on me?”, I asked.

Jenny replies, “We don’t need those just keep your eyes open.”

After 45 minutes and burning, blood shot eyes later I leave with the biggest and most uncomfortable lashes ever. They tugged slowly and painfully at my natural lashes and after a week I finally pulled them off along with quite a few of my real ones! (Good thing hair grows back!)

Fast forward to a few months later I couldn't shake my interest in lash extensions- especially since I kept a pretty natural face. I didn’t wear much makeup and knew the extensions would give me the natural-looking elevation that my look needed.

I decided to try again and I went to the established, well reviewed, Blink Lash Boutique. Yes, more expensive isn’t always better but it definitely was in this case! I LOVED MY LASH EXTENSIONS!

Absolutely obsessed. My extensions were natural looking and I couldn’t feel them. At the time I was an Esthetician and asked the front desk girl, Adrianna how could I learn how to do lashes and she told me Blink hosted classes! The company that I worked for at the time, Spa & Etc, sponsored me (at this time I was 19 or 20 years old and broke and will forever be grateful to them. Literally best people I’ve ever met so look out for that story) and I took Blink’s training.

My first lash extension course with many more to follow.

I’ve been a lash baller ever since.

Have any crazy lash stories? Send them to me! I want to hear all about it.
